We tried several appetizers at the table. The Pan-Fried Green Tomatoes were very nice topped with salty bits of bacon and served in a voodoo glaze. The glaze was tangy and a bit spicy and came with several of the dishes (which demonstrates a lack of creativity in the kitchen). We also tried the Flash-Fried Chunky Dill Pickles which were also nice with a good crunch. The Sweet-Potato Hushpuppies were a bit dry (again served with the voodoo glaze). The Whistle Bite Sliders were very good with house-cured pork bellow served on small rolls.
For my entree I had the Shrimp & Grits, which was good. The flavors were nice though a bit dominated by the spice of the andouille sausage and the saltiness of the ham. I could complain that the shrimp were a little on the small side. At dinner the dish came with a side and I selected the Mac & Cheese. It was a huge portion for a side! It was rich and creamy with lots of cheese however, it was seriously lacking in salt. The portions are huge and everyone was quite full and we did not order dessert.
Our waiter was particularly awkward and uncomforatble with our somewhat larger (6 people) group. Overall, the food is good but not great and the environment is pleasant. If I lived nearby we might go back however, I am not sure I would make the drive again for a meal.
