Welcome! My name is Jyotsna Jagai. I am a first generation ABCD, ‘American Born Confused Desi’. My parents are both from Andhra Pradesh, India and have instilled in me a love of the country and it’s culture. Though I love eating Indian food, I have much to learn about this complex and interesting food culture. I am married to a wonderful man who shares all of my food adventures and misadventures. My husband, G, is from Trinidad and Tobago, an island nation in the Caribbean which has a large population of people of Indian descent, and has opened my eyes to some of the delicious foods of the Indian diaspora.
So, you may be asking, “Why do I need another food related blog!?” Well to be honest I started this blog is for me to keep track of my food adventures. But, through it I have met and joined a great community of food lovers and adventurers. After completing my graduate work and spending 8 years in the Northeast my husband and I moved to the South and now call Chapel Hill, NC home. This blog chronicles our dining adventures where ever we call home and the places we have traveled.
On a side note, I want to thank Seth Patrick for designing the banner header and Brian and Dawn Crawford for taking the profile pictures. All of the pictures in the posts on the blog are taken by me or my husband.
Thank you for visiting the site and I hope you find my adventures in food and food culture interesting. I look forward to your comments and to learn from the breadth and depth of knowledge out there!

Keep doing the food work. I mean the good work.

Hello,
I like your blog. I’m putting a link to yours on my blog, called The Food Life (http://www.benrsmith.com). It’s all about cooking and eating out in the Triangle area.
Ben
Thanks, Ben! Glad you enjoy the blog! I have not come across your blog but I will check it out!
Welcome to Chapel Hill – we moved from NY, but my bf is from Boston (he lived in NY for 15 years) – so if you ever want to talk Beantown, feel free to reach out. I have been to India and love Indian food, culture, films, etc. There is a theater in Cary that shows Bollywood films regularly (new releases) – it is called “The Galaxy”
Cheers,
Missy
